This week I have the absolute pleasure of doing a writeup at my job about Brown Girls Burlesque. I spoke to a couple of troupe members, including the founder, Miss AuroraBoobRealis. There are 2 things I really admire about them:

1. They really emphasize owning and operating their own show. They work hard to produce a woman-friendly show that’s entertaining and celebratory of their bodies (thus, showing viewers that it’s perfectly fine to appreciate yourself.)

2. BGB is (obviously) a bunch of burlesquers of color, which is rare in and of itself. When you think of burlesque, you think of blond pinups, not women from the BK who heart Lil Mama.
