Linkage: Vacation Time

Posted on 03 June 2008 by Michelle

It’s June, and if you’re truly the slacker I think you are, then you haven’t put too much thought into your summer vacation. Dammit, you have 2 measly weeks of paid time off — use it. The U.S. is the country with the fewest vacation days in the world. Seriously, the Germans get up to 15 weeks paid vacation each year and you’re working to scrape by and maybe go to the shore once a year. Anyway, check these out to get your trip plans in gear:

The LA Times is reporting that Container Store is having a travel sale… like I need more little jars to hold random things in… OK, I do.

I swear by Sidestep.com. I’ve booked several cheap flights though this web app, which searches 200 travel sites for decent deals. I booked a flight from LA to NYC to DC and back to LA for a decent price, considering how atrocious airfare is nowadays.

Budget Travel thinks about how the most simple technological innovations have helped us become better travelers. At this point, who doesn’t check in online? Seriously.

If you’re still wondering where the hell to ship off to this summer, check out the NY Times’ list of 31 places to go. The spots are all over the country, peaking into our neighbor to the north.

And in the midst of red eyes, layovers, hundreds of miles in between rest stops, lost luggage, stolen wallets, gross travel food, and screaming babies, the Seattle Times reminds you to stay sane and safe during the whole excursion.

Happy travels!
