Only a few years after an Italian court ruled that a man couldn’t possibly have raped a woman because her pants were too tight, the court has changed it’s mind. Italian women can now go back to wearing their pancreas-tight Dolce jeans.
Well, so she says.

It always seems as though that luminary Current goddess, Sarah Haskins is noticing exactly what I’m noticing, and this time around, it’s the fact that commercials put the onus on moms to do the dinner things… when dads do it, it turns out to be a hilarious horrible disaster. When moms do it, they better do it right or else their children will be malnourished Jeffery Dahmers. Just check it out.

If you haven’t heard about Private First Class LaVena Johnson’s death by now, I’ll give the quick rundown. The U.S. Military said that she died of a suicide while deployed in Iraq back in 2005. Once her body was recovered, it became clear that she died after an apparent struggle (bruises all over her body, two loose front teeth, a bruised lip, and acid poured over her genital region likely to eliminate DNA evidence); they also said that she shot herself in the head with an M-16, which is incredibly difficult to do, considering the length and size of the rifle, and that she would have used her non-dominant hand to pull the trigger on the left side of her face. The Army is refusing to reopen the case, and it seems that the Army didn’t even investigate the case. Her father has been trying for 3 years for anyone with power to get on his side and help solve the case for his daughter.
Philip Barron has launched a petition and as of right this moment, the goal of 3,000 signers is is a little more than halfway there. If you care about getting justice for this young woman, then sign the petition.

The L Word is heading into its sixth and final season, but the show’s creator is developing a spinoff. One character is going to get a show of her own.
I unfortunately don’t watch the show because I don’t get Showtime, but if anyone does, I’d be glad to know what you think: What character gets to continue TV’s big lesbian drama?!

And he’s absolutely right. Even though I’m quite tuckered out from the Oppression Olympics that emerged from this primary campaign, The fact that we had a woman, an African-American, and a Latino simply in the running as serious candidates for a major party is proof that we’re moving forward as a nation.
How do you think this particular primary has changed the way we view the Democratic electorate? The general electorate?
